NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear IMS Member: As you are aware, the present Board of Directors of the International Mycorrhiza Society was appointed at ICOM 5 held in Granada in 2006 in order to get the society established and to attend to items of business that have arisen over the past three years. It is now time to elect a new board. This will be done in two stages. First, the election of the President will be held followed by the election of the remaining Board of Directors. Two candidates have agreed to stand for election: Melanie Jones and Sari Timonen. A short biography and their respective visions for the IMS are posted on the website. Voting for President will take place using the website and will open on June 15, 2009 and close on June 20, 2009. Votes will be tallied automatically by the system and the results will be posted on the website and sent out to all members by the Nominations Committee. Only active members of IMS are eligible to vote and regardless of membership type there is one vote per member. Since a valid membership number is needed, you should check to make sure that your number is working prior to voting. If you have problems you should contact the IMS office (info@mycorrhizas.org). If you have not renewed your membership this must be done by June 12 in order to have the payment clear the banking institutions prior to voting. Sincerely, Dr. R. Larry Peterson, President
